Why the name is Aqua Medics
The name comes from the day job. Garrett spends his working shifts responding to problems other people didn't see coming: a system that had been quietly failing for weeks, a warning sign somebody walked past. The habit of looking for the early signal doesn't switch off when the shift ends.
Pools are the same kind of problem, on a slower clock. A pump bearing that has started to whine, a filter pressure that's crept up, chlorine that's been drifting low for a fortnight — none of those are emergencies on the day you notice them. All of them become expensive if nobody is looking. Aqua Medics is built around noticing.
The shift schedule is the point
Firefighters work a shift rota, which means blocks of days off. Garrett runs the pool route on those days, on a fixed weekly schedule — your pool gets a set day, and that day doesn't wander. It also means the route is capped: he isn't spread across two hundred pools trying to make a number work.
The honest trade-off: Aqua Medics is not a 24/7 emergency service, and it isn't a seven-day-a-week operation. If your pool turns green on a Tuesday, Garrett will get to it — but he'll tell you when, rather than promise you an hour he can't keep. In this trade, a company that shows up on the day it said it would is rarer than it should be.
Why he started it
Garrett has been a firefighter for ten years with Sarasota County Fire — the kind of job that teaches you to read a situation quickly, stay calm when something is going wrong, and do the unglamorous work that keeps the whole system from failing. He brings the same instincts to pool care: check everything, log what you find, fix the small thing before it becomes the expensive thing.
As for why pools — it's simpler than you'd think. Garrett loves the water and has lived along it his whole life. A pool is just the part of the water you're responsible for keeping right, and he'd rather keep yours clean than watch it turn. That's the whole pitch.
What he's like to deal with
Plain answers. If your pool needs a part, you'll be told what it is and roughly what it costs, not sold a package. If something is fine, you'll be told it's fine. Every visit ends with a photo report, so there's a record of what your pool looked like when he left — useful for anyone, essential if you're only in Englewood part of the year.
AQUA MEDICS POOL SERVICES, LLC was formed in Florida in October 2023. It's owner-operated: the person who quotes your pool is the person who cleans it.
